Access levels
What you can do as a visitor, with an account whose email is not yet confirmed, and with a confirmed account — and the limits that apply to everyone.
TapeHawk has three levels, and moving up is free: create an account, then confirm your email address. The chart itself — every chart type, every built-in indicator, bar replay — is open at every level.
What each level adds
| Visitor | Account, email not confirmed | Confirmed account | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heatmap, footprint and all ten candle shapes | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Built-in indicators | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Bar replay and paper trading | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Colours and timezone remembered by the browser | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Saved layouts, kept across devices | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Drawing tools | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Favourite symbols | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Layouts with two or four panels | ✓ | ||
| Alerts | ✓ | ||
| Writing your own indicators | ✓ | ||
| Terminal: prices, chart, macro, recaps | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Terminal: watchlist | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Terminal: your alerts and signals, news, portfolio, AI assistant, AI desk | ✓ |
Visitors can use the whole chart on one panel, but nothing is saved: the drawing tools show a padlock, and the favourites tab asks you to sign in.
An account whose email is not confirmed keeps its workspace — layouts, drawings and favourites are saved as soon as you sign up, so nothing you set up is lost while you wait for the email. It still shows one panel, and the banner at the top of the page offers to resend the confirmation.
A confirmed account gets the full workspace: the two-panel and four-panel grids in the Layout picker, alerts — on the symbols TapeHawk records in full — and My indicators in the indicator menu. Account explains how to confirm.
A layout with several panels is kept when it is opened on a phone, which shows only one panel. The chart draws the first panel; the others come back on a wider screen.
Limits
These apply to everyone who can use the feature. When you reach one, the chart says so instead of failing silently.
| What | Limit | What you see at the limit |
|---|---|---|
| Saved layouts | 20 per account | Layout limit reached (20) |
| Layout name | 64 characters | The name box stops accepting text |
| Panels in a layout | 4 (a 2×2 grid) | — |
| Heatmap panels in a layout | 1 | One heatmap panel at a time — switch the existing one off first |
| Indicators on one panel | 5, counting hidden ones | The chart says the indicator limit is reached. A layout saved with more keeps them, but only the first 5 are drawn and the legend says how many are hidden |
| Indicator bands under one panel | 2 | At most 2 indicator bands per panel — remove one first (a band that is turned off still counts) |
| Favourite symbols | 50 | Your favourites list is full — remove one to add another. |
| Symbols with drawings | 50 per account | Drawings on a further symbol are not saved, and the chart says the drawing storage limit is reached |
| Drawings on one symbol | 300 objects, and a size cap that long text notes reach sooner | Changes on that symbol stop saving, and the chart says the drawings are too large |
| Alert rules | 20 | The alert panel warns as you get close |
| Alert rules switched on at once | 3 | The alert panel shows how many are on, and turning on a fourth is refused with a message |
