News

Crypto headlines from five public news feeds — how to switch between the selected market's and everyone's, what a row shows, and what the module says when an outlet is late.

The News module lists headlines from the public feeds of five crypto outlets: CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block, Decrypt and Bitcoin Magazine. It is in the News layout, beside the price table and the chart, and needs a confirmed account; anyone else sees a link to sign in, or a note to confirm their email.

TapeHawk shows what each outlet's feed publishes — a title and a link — and nothing more. There are no summaries and no rewrites. A headline opens the outlet's own article in a new tab.

The News module: headlines newest first, each with the coin, the outlet and how long ago it was published, and the This market and All switch in the title bar.

Reading a row

Each row has three small items above the headline:

  • the coin or coins the headline names, when it names any;
  • the outlet;
  • how long ago it was published. Point at it for the exact time in UTC.

Headlines are listed newest first, from the last 7 days, up to 60 of them. The module asks for new ones every two minutes while the tab is visible, and straight away when you change market or scope.

This market or all

The switch in the title bar picks what is listed:

  • This market — headlines that name the coin the selected market trades. Select ETHUSDT and you read headlines about Ether. Point at the button for that sentence.
  • All — every headline, whichever market is selected.

It starts on the selected market. When there are none for that coin in the last 7 days, the module says so and offers a Show all headlines button.

Coins are recognised by name and ticker from a built-in list of well-known coins. A headline about a coin that is not on the list still appears under All, without a coin tag, but not under a market's own filter. Matching works on the words of the headline, so it can miss a headline that refers to a coin obliquely.

When an outlet is late

A missing outlet must not read as a quiet day. If a feed is late or failing, a note names it — Delayed: The Block — their newest headlines may be missing. — and the other outlets are unaffected. If the request is refused for too many requests before any headline has loaded, the module says to try again in a minute. Once headlines have loaded, a failed refresh keeps them under a Delayed banner with the time of the last good update.

The AI desk's news analyst reads the headlines of this module, except those of an outlet whose terms do not allow AI use of its headlines.
