Bar replay
Go back to any bar and play the market forward from there — every panel together — at the speed you choose.
Bar replay takes the chart back to a moment you pick and plays the market forward from it, bar by bar, with everything after that moment hidden. It is for practice and review: read the chart as it looked then, decide, and watch what happened next. Every panel in the layout replays together, on one clock.
Replay is on the desktop, at every access level. While it runs, a paper-trading panel lets you place simulated trades against the replayed bars.
Start a replay
- Get the moment you want on screen first. Once the replay hint is up, pressing the chart picks a bar straight away, so dragging no longer scrolls; the mouse wheel still zooms.
- Click Bar replay in the right half of the toolbar. A bar over the chart says Click a bar to start replaying from there
- Move over any panel — the crosshair shows the time under the pointer — and click the bar to start from.
- Each panel reloads around that moment: its history up to the mark is shown, and everything after it is held back to be played.
Press Exit on that bar to back out without starting.
The replay bar

| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play / Pause | Starts or stops playback |
| Step one bar | Reveals the next bar and stops |
| 0.5x · 1x · 2x · 5x · 10x · 25x | The speed, in bars per second — so 5x means five bars a second on any timeframe |
| Clock | The moment the replay has reached, in the chart's timezone |
| New point | Pauses and lets you click a different bar, without leaving the replay |
| Exit | Leaves the replay and returns every panel to live data |
Right after you pick a bar, the bar reads loading… and Step one bar is greyed out while the panels load; both clear as soon as the first panel has its bars.
With candles and footprint panels on different timeframes, one bar means a bar of the finest of them: a 1m panel beside a 1h panel moves every step, the 1h panel once an hour of replayed time.
Keyboard
- Space plays or pauses.
- Esc backs out one step at a time: first a drawing you are in the middle of placing or dragging, then a New point you have not finished, then the replay itself. Pressing Esc to deselect a drawing, or to release a drawing tool you have not started using, ends the replay too.
When the replay runs out
Each panel loads a stretch of bars after the mark when the replay starts. When playback reaches its end, the bar says End of buffer and offers Continue, which loads the next stretch and carries on from the same point.
What each chart type does
- Candles and footprint reveal each bar whole, once the replay clock passes its close. Indicators on them are drawn only up to the replayed moment.
- A heatmap plays the recorded order book for that moment when there is one, and its info bar shows the recorded span instead of live read-outs. The price ladder on the right shows the recorded book at the cursor, sizes included — not the live book. The band to the right of the dashed line shows that same column. The bid and ask lines continue from the last recorded column across the margin at that column's touch, so they meet the field instead of stopping short of it. Where no recording exists for that time — older than the recording reaches, or a symbol that is not recorded — the heatmap stays live and says depth here is LIVE — no recorded field for this window The shortest ranges have no recording to replay at all: on 1m, and on 5m when the panel is wide, the chart asks you to pick 15m, 1h or 4h — set the range before you pick the mark.
If you scroll away from the replayed moment, Back to cursor brings you back.
Leaving
Exit, the toolbar button or Esc ends the replay. Nothing about a replay is saved — the mark, the position reached, and any paper trades are gone when you leave, so the chart asks first if a paper position or trade journal would be lost.
Every new mark reloads history for every panel, against a limit shared by all your panels and browser tabs. Picking many marks in quick succession can reach it: a candles or footprint panel that hits it goes blank and its status strip says error. The panel asks again by itself, waiting a little longer each time up to a minute, for a few minutes at most — after that it stays blank until you pick the mark again. If no other panel has its bars yet, the replay bar says loading… until one does; a panel that loads late joins at the moment the replay has reached.
